The 2014 U.S. Army Special Operations Command International Sniper Competition will commence today at Fort Bragg in North Carolina and continue through Thursday. This competition is hosted by the Army Special Forces Sniper Course. Competitors will come from around the world and include snipers from special operations units, federal and state law enforcement agencies and partners from foreign countries.
A variety of challenging scenarios will be represented in the nineteen events that will be held. Teams of two snipers will participate in challenges occurring in both day and night settings, have timing requirements and distance elements. Teams will be put in uncertain situations and tested on their response to the unknown challenges. Urban settings will also factor in as part of the contest. The sniper teams will be judged on their accuracy, timing and communication.
