Military service members, government employees as well as family members in some cases, are eligible for discounts from Department of Defense Small Computer Program contractors such as Dell, Apple, HP and Microsoft. These retailers offer unique deals and discounts to service members and their families.
Most automotive dealers offer some kind of discount to military members ranging from cash allowances to rebates to free service on new vehicles. Among the participating dealers is GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota and Volvo.
Many large nationwide hotel chains offer special rates to military members and veterans. Among these companies are Hilton, Hyatt, Homewood Suites, Marriott, Choice Hotels, Starwood Hotels, Best Western and Wyndham Hotel Group.
Cell phone service providers offer a wide range of discounts to military members including price breaks on equipment, discounts on monthly plans and reduced rates on additional lines as well as no contract service. AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint Nextel are some of the participating companies offering these discounts.
Whether would like to travel by plane, train or bus, there are military discounts to be found through a variety of companies. Some of the major travel companies offering discounts are US Airways and United Airlines. Southwest Airlines (1-800-I-FLY-SWA) and Delta Airlines (800-221-1212) can be contacted by phone to receive information on special military rates. Amtrak and Greyhound are other companies offering reduced rates to members of the military.
There are many military discounts available for vacation spots and attractions. Several cruise lines including Carnival, Disney, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Norwegian Cruise Lines offer discounts to those who have served. Sandals Resorts also offer special deals and rates to military members. Disney World in Orlando Florida and Disney Land in Anaheim California over a wide range of discounts to military including package deals, hotel accommodations and dining discounts. Shade of Green is an exclusive military resort located near the Magic Kingdom. Universal Studios also offers similar discounts. Make sure to check out the offers from Nickelodeon Suites Resort as well. Other theme parks offering discounts are Busch Gardens, Sea World and Great Wolf Lodge. Cedar Point offers $15 off regular admission to all active duty, veterans and retirees and hold special military appreciation events throughout the year. Discount Six Flags tickets are available through most military bases MWR/ITR offices but not at the parks ticket office or online.
Many major retailers offer percentages off to military and veterans as well as have special event days that cater to service members. Some of the major chains offering these specials are Home Depot and Lowes offer a 10% discount to all military personnel who are active, reserve, retired or disabled veterans and their family members, with a valid, government-issued military ID card. Aeropostale offers a 10% discount in the physical store, not online, with valid military I.D. Bass Pro Shop has military discount days offering 10% starting the 15th of each month and lasting one week (please note some items are excluded). A valid military I.D. must be presented. Nike offers a 10% discount to military with a valid I.D. Oakley offers discounts to military members after validation of service.
